...for active adults

We fine tune our brains and brain-body connections through rhythm based patterns using colorful sand bags and racket balls.

We build skillful relationships with objects, other individuals and the group.

We find our way through honing our sensory system to full body coordination.

We experience falling out of rhythm and finding our way back into rhythm while remaining joyfully engaged with others.

We experience resonance and integration.

This on-going practice develops our:

  • focused attention and memory
  • response time, impulse control and judgment
  • ability to communicate and engage socially
  • ability to find calm in the midst of complexity
  • visual and auditory abilities of where to focus and when
  • focal and peripheral visions, balances them, and trains the whole visual field
  • ability to initiate and to multi-task with a sense of ease and flow
  • senses of balance, spatial organization and orientation

After participating in these activities, we feel engergized and revitalized.

Bags, Balls and Brains active adults class

Challenging and uplifting...
I totally appreciate the value of the class and the group...or rather...community to me. It is fun, forgiving, patient, focused, challenging and uplifting! I love this class! - Ann

Exhilarating...
“In class I continue to grow as I age by learning to do things I thought just last week that I couldn’t do. It keeps me in a process of challenging myself and seeing that I can still learn to do new things. This is exhilarating.”  - Shirley E., retired Corporate Vice-President

Lively and fun...
“The class helps keep my eye/hand coordination coordinated! Helps me practice staying focused on a task/rhythm. It's lively and fun!”   - Marilyn

Helped keep my mind and body sharp...

Ken L. shares:

What adjectives would you use to describe what happens during class?
Fun, challenging, engaging.

What keeps you interested and engaged?
I've had an interest in learning to juggle for some time. It's why I started the class, but I find it to be good mental and physical exercise and I enjoy the camaraderie.

Any changes / improvements you've noticed in skills, or memory, or stress level, or other abilities?
I know it's helped my balance and believe it's helped keep my mind and body sharp in other ways (dare I say it's helping me to stay young).  I particularly notice the balance improvements when I'm mountain-biking and have to move through a series of tight turns that requires turning the bike back and forth at slow speeds.
