...for senior citizens

These activities are about having fun and enjoying yourself while doing something important for your brain and body.

Using sand bags and racquet balls, you learn a series of individual, partner and group activities. We will apply the individual skills you develop with the sand bags and balls by practicing the movement patterns with partners. You also have the opportunity to use these partnering skills in relationship to two or more other people with group patterns in circle formation and community.

These various activities offer you the opportunity to develop skills in simultaneously attending to yourself, to another and to a community.

Other aspects of these classes include eye tracking, playing with rhythm sequences using bouncing balls, various combination patterns of the basic bag and ball skills, and double focus activities (such as one hand doing one thing while the other one does something else.)

These activities have reportedly increased ability in:

  • Whole brain availability
  • Focus and concentration
  • Physical coordination
  • Mental capacity
  • Listening skills
  • Eye movements (tracking, teaming)
  • Visual form perception (discrimination of details)
  • Eye-hand coordination
  • Balance and stability
  • Knowing where you are in space

By playing with these exercises on a regular basis you can enhance:

  • Simultaneous use of both brain hemispheres
  • Clarity of thought and self-expression
  • Quicker response time
  • Improved access to your inherent creativity
  • Improved sense of rhythm & timing
  • Improved physical coordination & balance
  • Improved memory
  • Increased sense of confidence

All of these skills translate into more ease, joy and the ability to participate more fully in all aspects of your life. You will hear more accurately, think more clearly, concentrate more easily, remember with less effort, stand taller, laugh more readily, enjoy an increased sense of confidence and have FUN.
