4 balls handled while on balance board

Participants can learn to handle multiple objects simultaneously. Once there is mastery of basic skills, sensory integration is further stimulated by executing specific pattern sequences while standing on a variable difficulty balance board.

Bags, Balls, and Brains group balls exerciseBags, Balls, and Brains is a sensory motor program which enhances visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, and fine motor skills. It is a whole brain learning approach, utilizing a simultaneous multi-sensory system, which creatively combines movements primarily from the learning approaches of Brain Gym®, Belgau Learning Breakthrough Program and Bal-A-Vis-X®.

Brain Gym is a learning readiness program. Belgau Learning Breakthrough Program and Bal-A-Vis-X (herein called Bags and Balls) are strongly rooted in rhythm, require full body coordination, improve brain organization and processing for higher levels of functioning and cognitive ability, and enhance vestibular, tactile, kinesthetic, visual and auditory skills.

All of these movement activities benefit participants physically, emotionally and mentally. Both the BrainInstructors Linda Faste and Shirley Kelley Gym Movements and the Balls and Bags Activities have been proven to increase mental fitness, social awareness, physical coordination, and the self-esteem of everyone involved.

Both Shirley Kelley and Linda Faste have extensive backgrounds and experience in the fields of education and movement. Between the two of them they have worked with two-year-old children all the way through ninety-two-year-old adults. They deftly weave together all of their multi-faceted past trainings and experiences.

They are currently teaching the following Bags, Balls, and Brains classes in the San Francisco Peninsula area: The Center at 435 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto, The Balance Center in Palo Alto, Stanford University, and the Los Altos United Methodist Church.
